Metropolitan Breakfast Club |
The Metropolitan Breakfast Club, currently hosted at Chez Zee, is unique among membership groups in Austin. Here we not only learn and grow, professionally and personally, but we also give ourselves opportunities to create and sustain deeper, long-term friendships and alliances. Many members take these friendships out the door and into their daily lives. We are a relaxed, diverse group and our makeup changes weekly. And that's a part of the magic. The environment is organic and stimulating without the press and pressure of business networking and selling on the spot.
Whether you're new to Austin or a native Austinite, you'll enjoy a great breakfast with energetic, talented and fun people... no small feat for an early morning breakfast club! Come build relationships, expand your knowledge, and start your day with a smile.

| Member Spotlight: Penny ApplebyHow long have you been a member of Metropolitan Breakfast Club Since I moved back to Austin in 1997. What made you decide to join? While visiting Austin, I stayed with a friend who was a member; she invited me to the breakfast. When I moved to Austin, I decided to join, thinking I would use that network to help me get a job. Turned out I didn’t need a job, but I’ve kept coming to MBC. What did you do in your job? I was with IBM for a little over 30 years. My last position was Senior Marketing Programs Administrator in Enterprise Systems Marketing. What is one thing you’ve learned about MBC that you think more people should know? I’ve learned about the breadth of our area. There’s a variety of speakers and topics representing different organizations and political views. No other organization gives such a broad perspective on central Texas. What are your favorite local charities? Justice for Our Neighbors (provides free immigration legal services, education and advocacy), Caritas (provides homelessness support, including housing referrals and meals) and Foundation Communities (provides affordable housing, job opportunities, financial coaching and education). What is one thing people admire about you? I’m not shy or bashful. I think age gives me a certain presence, and I don’t worry about it anymore. I’m pretty honest, and I don’t ask questions just to be asking. I want to know the answer. |
