Revelations on the River: Healing the Nation, Healing Ourselves
About our speaker:
Matthew Dowd got interested in politics during the Watergate hearings at the age of 12. He began his career serving Democrats including Lloyd Bentsen, Dick Gephardt, and Bob Bullock, but became a Republican in his late 20s. He was the campaign strategist for the Bush-Cheney campaign in 2004, but soon thereafter he had a falling out with the White House over the conduct of the Iraq War.
In 2007 Dowd became a political contributor for ABC News, and has become an outspoken critic of extreme behavior by both parties. He has served on the faculties of UT's LBJ School and the University of Chicago's Institute of Politics and continues to be active as a political consultant. In fall 2021, he briefly campaigned for Lt Governor of Texas.
