CodeNEXT will replace the City of Austin’s current Land Development Code which defines how land within the City can be used. It will shape future development across the city and promises to be one of the biggest political battles as fights over neighborhood development, density, height, traffic and transportation will all be focused into one document.

About Our Speaker

Jim Duncan is chair of the CodeNEXT Citizens Advisory Group. He has 55 years of experience as a professional city and regional planner and is a specialist in land use regulations and infastructure financing. He has been a growth director for Austin, and a number of development regulations were adopted while he was with the city, including:

• Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance Revision

• Comprehensive Watershed Ordinance

• Capitol View Protection Ordinance

Mr. Duncan has been honored with numerous awards and has held positions in professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Planners and the American Planning Association.
