About our speaker

Gina Chavez was named Austin Musician of the Year in 2015.

She is a bilingual Latin-folk singer/songwriter, and her latest independent release -- Up.Rooted -- is a collection of bilingual songs bridging cumbia, bossa nova, vintage pop, raggaeton, and folk.

Ms. Chavez has been featured on National Public Radio (NPR), USA Today, and The Boston Globe. After she was profiled on NPR's All Things Considered, her album topped the iTunes and Amazon Latin charts.
