How Brexit May Change the World

It's been over a year since Britain voted on a referendum to leave the European Union, and the world is watching. "Brexit" is expected to have wide-ranging consequences, not only for Britain and the EU, but also for the global economy.

Join us as David Edwards, Professor Emeritus at The University of Texas at Austin, explains the current status of Brexit negotiations and the possible impacts on globalization and the US.

About our speaker

David Edwards was Professor of Government at the University of Texas at Austin for 50 years, starting in 1965. He became Emeritus in 2015 but continues to write and present academic papers at conferences at home and abroad. His fields of teaching and publication include international relations, American politics, social and political theory, and public policy.

Among his books are Creating a New World Politics, Arms Control in International Politics, International Political Analysis, The American Political Experience, and Practicing American Politics. Several of his books have been translated into Spanish and Chinese. He has also written for various periodicals, among them The Washington Post, The Nation, and Intellect, as well as foreign news and literature magazines.

He served as President of the Board of One World Theater for 10 years, has been a Rotarian, and has spoken to numerous civic and other groups.

He is married with two grown children, both graduates of UT Austin.
