Judge Eckhardt began service as Travis County’s first female county judge on January 1, 2015. She previously served as Precinct 2 Commissioner for over years.

Her other experience and service includes:

  • Travis County Attorney’s office
  • Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) Transportation Policy Board
  • Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) Executive Committee
  • Central Texas Clean Air Coalition
  • Bail Bond Board and Juvenile Boards
  • Texas Freedom Network’s Board of Directors

Judge Eckhardt received “Elected Official of the Year” from the Central Texas American Society for Public Administration in 2013.

Judge Eckhardt learned public service and a commitment to Central Texas from her mother Nadine — aide to Lyndon Johnson and Molly Ivins, as well as a mother of four — and her father, the late Congressman Bob Eckhardt. Judge Eckhardt is continuing the tradition with her own family, raising her children in Austin public schools while leading the Commissioners Court every Tuesday.
