"Hook'em and Salam Alaikum" Muslim Texans
What are the challenges and opportunities of being Muslim in Central Texas? Bridging two apparently disparate worlds, a harmonious equilibrium can be reached. Join us as Imam Islam Mossad speaks about being Muslim in Central Texas: the past, present, and hopes for the future.
About our speaker
Imam Islam currently serves as Imam for the North Austin Muslim Community Center where he leads daily prayers, delivers sermons, teaches and counsels children and adults.
He previously served as Imam for the Islamic Community of Bryan College Station and the Islamic Center of Little Rock. He is a graduate of the University of Texas born and raised in the United States. He is a long-time Austinite and avid Longhorn fan.
His Islamic education came through self study and sitting with people of knowledge and scholars from an early age until the present. He continues to integrate Islamic knowledge with the modern sciences.
He is a dynamic speaker who engages audiences and genuinely enjoys open and respectful discussion.
Imam Islam seeks to blend together the deeper values of Divine Guidance with the broader tapestry of the United States. He sees that we as Americans have the onus and opportunity to demonstrate to the rest of the world how human beings of a myriad of backgrounds can grow together in peace, harmony, and mutual respect.
