Investing in Women's Leadership

Deeds Not Words is dedicated to organizing and developing the leadership of young women through an intersectional framework, with a focus on how to make local change today.

Built on the belief that our stories are needed to address growing inequality, Deeds was created to bring the voices of women to spaces where they are often ignored or excluded. Utilizing the power of their stories, our Changemakers bring their lived experiences into public decision-making spaces, driving change through testimony, advocacy, and engagement.

Our Changemakers can shift policy and culture, and create a more supportive environment in which women can succeed and thrive, on their own terms. As a Co-Executive Director, Amber works everyday to ensure women are uplifted in every aspect of their lives.

About our speaker:

Amber Davis, Co-Executive Director of Operations, is a proud native Texan, born and raised in Ft. Worth, and resident of Austin since 2013. Amber is a graduate of Texas Christian University, where she pursued a degree in Communication Studies.

Inspired by her mother’s story and fight for gender equity, she joined the Deeds Not Words team as the Manager of Finance and Operations before her role as Co-Executive Director. Her values of resilience, strength, and courage were instilled in her at a young age, which has carried her through life’s challenges and successes. raised in Ft. Worth, and resident of Austin since 2013. Amber is a graduate of Texas Christian University, where she pursued a degree in Communication Studies.

And now, as a mother of 2 young daughters, that passion for social justice continues, and it’s just one of the many reasons she is committed to promoting significant, positive change for young women through advocacy powered by compassion. Amber’s dedication is rooted in her role as a mother, where she strives to raise her children in a world where all women are treated and paid equally, have access to affordable quality healthcare, and their ideas and voices aren’t silenced because of their gender. She believes that the most attractive quality in a person is the proper use of there, they’re and their, and has yet to figure out how to fold a fitted sheet.
