About the artists:
Tje Austin
Tje Austin is an ambitious Austin-based R&B singer-songwriter. Tje’s personal brand of soul derives from various influences that include John Legend and Lenny Kravitz. Introspective and passionate, Tje uses life experiences to explore the sensitivities and nuances of loss and broken relationships. He strives to create and perform the quintessential emotive experience, with touches of optimism and authenticity.
Tje was a contestant during the first run of the North American adaptation of The Voice. He’s co-written songs with three-time Grammy award winner Taj Jackson (for his Xperience album.) Amongst his received honors, Austin was a Semi Finalist in 2015 International Songwriting Competition – R&B Category and was featured at the 2014 ASCAP Expo for Pop Songwriting.
Altamesa
Originally founded in 2016 by Evan Charles as a solo project and solidified as a group with the addition of The Happen-Ins frontman Sean Faires, Altamesa evokes the sounds and narratives of the lonesome desert and pairs them with contemporary pop and rock sensibilities. The group’s first two records, The Long Ride Home (2016) and Idol Frontier (2019) both earned four star reviews from their hometown press in the Austin Chronicle, lauding Charles as “an impressionistic writer whose pen drips with chilling abstractions.”
In June 2020, the band released their first new work since Idol Frontier, a 45 RPM vinyl single "Interstate" b/w "Yellow Sky" on Mr. Pink Records. The new music was accompanied by a music video for "Interstate" produced by Luck Reunion co-founder Matt Bizer, whose video credits include Chuck Berry and John Hiatt. Chronicle critic Doug Freeman hailed the new material as "highway poetry."
For the uninitiated, the following quote from the Austin Chronicle's Kevin Curtin describes the band's sound with the following laudatory comparison: "Springsteen's desolate cult classic Nebraska sung by a godforsaken Tom Petty with Keith Richards on guitar."
