The Lenses We Use
Recognizing biases in ourselves and in the world around us.
About our speaker:
Soledad "Sol" Bautista was born and raised in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México where she grew up surrounded by a rich culture of art and creativity. Sol studied psychology at ITESO, Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara, and was a member of the University's theater company.
She went on to practice psychology and education in Mexico and the USA while pursuing various opportunities in film as an actor. As a proud bilingual psychologist, Sol honors diversity and multiculturalism. The training she had at ITESO included a strong emphasis on discernment and community work. She believes that most of the problems in our minds, bodies, and society begin with the psyche - understood as a set of conscious and unconscious processes to the human mind, as opposed to those that are purely organic.
A few years later Sol was invited to relocate to the US as an educator, where she acquired a completely different set of skills and understanding of this phenomenon while working with her bilingual students. Sol recognized how living in multiple locations has also advanced these skills. She constantly pursues life experiences that provide her with the opportunity to serve more people and their communities.
Sol recently moved to Waco, Tx accepting a new role at Creative Waco. Weaving her spirit of curiosity and passions together, she is launching the Air Collaborative in Waco and across Texas to bring the talents and strengths of arts, business, and community together. As part of this role, she is spearheading Creative Waco's program to re-grant National Endowment for the Arts ARPA funds to artists and arts organizations.
