About Our Speaker:
Arati (pronounced “Arthy”) Singh is the President of the Austin ISD school board and the first Asian-American elected to this body. She was re-elected as an at-large trustee in November 2022. Arati started her career as a bilingual fourth grade teacher in the Rio Grande Valley, and for 20 years has been a program evaluator for National Science Foundation and Department of Education grants focusing on STEM pathways, workforce development, and college access. She worked for a Washington, DC-based firm before launching her own consulting business, Raise Achievement, LLC in 2011.
Arati is an advocate at heart and has testified for public education funding on behalf of AISD, the Texas Association of School Boards, and Texas PTA numerous times at the Capitol. Arati is a former nationally-recognized PTA president and an inventor with ten patents to her name. Arati has a BA in Psychology and minor in Spanish from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an MS in Curriculum and Instruction with an instructional technology focus from The University of Texas at Austin.
As a mom to an AISD graduate and a current AISD student, Arati understands that kids should love learning and feel safe in schools. Arati and her family live in southwest Austin.
