Resilient Austin

Laura will discuss the creation of the City's new Resilience Office and the development of the comprehensive resilience plan, which extends beyond disasters and addresses the complexity of challenges our communities face.

About our speaker:

Laura Patiño, a native Colombian, is the Chief Resilience Officer for the City of Austin. As the CRO for Austin, Laura leads the development of a comprehensive resilience plan and the implementation of city-wide efforts which will help prepare, respond to, recover from, and withstand natural and man-made disruptions, particularly within the most vulnerable communities. 

Laura has a background in environmental engineering with a focus on integrated bioresources and water resources management. She has worked in private, academic, and government sectors advancing environmental justice and remediation, climate mitigation and adaptation, and disaster recovery research, projects and programs.
