Willie the Armadillo and Red Neck Rock
Billy will chronicle the evolution of the unique Austin Sound, including the people who contributed (Kenneth Threadgill, Willie Nelson, Janis Joplin, Michael Murphey, Jerry Jeff Walker, and others) and the places that fostered it (Threadgill's, The Dillo, The Vulcan, The Victory Grill, The Skyline, The Broken Spoke, and more).
About our speaker:
Our speaker grew up on a farm in Central Texas. One day as he was spreading fertilizer over his mother's garden and listening to yearling calves bellow in the feed lot, he struck upon the idea of becoming a public speaker. He could enjoy the same things he enjoyed as a farm boy and not have to clean his boots near as much. So he waved goodbye to family, farm, and fertilizer and set out to achieve his dream. He attended college and worked as a short order cook, a reader, a shoe sales person, a service station attendant, an asphalt roofer, a helicopter tugger, a rock and roll singer, a janitor, a surgical technician, a school teacher, a counselor, a social worker, a consultant, and finally...at last...his dream...a trainer and public speaker. He's probably embarrassed to be called a raconteur, after he looks it up. He is here today to spread the message about the unique Austin music scene. So mooooooooove up close, keep your shoes on and your shovels handy, hear a story for manure audiences only...
