As a fourth-generation Austinite and the leader of Keep Austin Beautiful for 15 years, Rodney has witnessed Austin’s transformation—its booming skyline, infamous I-35 traffic, and, unfortunately, the ever-growing tide of misplaced plastic, paper, metal, and glass.
In this engaging presentation, Rodney will take a historical and multigenerational look at the power of service, the art of the ask (because let’s be honest, sometimes a free T-shirt isn’t enough to get people to pick up litter), and what it truly means to give back to the city we love.
He’ll dive into the Love ATX campaign, Keep Austin Beautiful’s 40-year legacy of protecting green spaces and waterways (that’s four decades of battling rogue fast-food wrappers), and, of course, Austin’s biggest cleanup event of the year—Keep Austin Beautiful Day on Saturday, April 12.
Expect stories, inspiration, and maybe even a little friendly peer pressure to pick up that stray Styrofoam cup on your daily walk. Because loving Austin isn’t just about living here – it’s about showing up for it.
