    About the program and speaker:

    Automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) options are growing for every industry, and healthcare organizations like Austin Regional Clinic (ARC) believe in the potential.  Jacob (Jake) Childers, MD, a Family Medicine physician in Same-Day Care at ARC and Medical Director of ARC’s subscription telemedicine service, NormanMD,  explores how AI is transforming health care, including AI tools, real-world applications, and the challenges this new technology presents.  Dr. Childers will explain how AI can help medical providers deliver better and more efficient healthcare, and how it benefits you, the patient.

    More about Dr. Childers:

    Dr. Jake Childers has been practicing with ARC for 16 years, currently at ARC Far West in daytime urgent care. He is board certified in Urgent Care Medicine, and a member of the Travis County Medical Society and the American Academy of Physicians.  Dr. Childers is also Medical Director of NormanMD, which provides primary care virtual visits for minor illness and injuries through a subscription platform utilizing ARC physicians and Advanced Practice Clinicians. In his free time, Dr. Childers enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife and two sons, and is a sports enthusiast, both participating and watching!

    Ross McCammon, Editor in Chief, Texas Monthly

    About the program and speaker:

    Ross McCammon is editor in chief of Texas Monthly, a position he’s held since January 2025. Before that he was the magazine’s deputy editor. He has held senior editorial positions at Esquire, GQ, Men’s Health, and Popular Mechanics. He’s written features for Wired, Elle, Bloomberg Businessweek, Cosmopolitan, and The Wall Street Journal. His book Works Well with Others (Dutton) investigates the relationship between workplace behavior and career success. The New York Times calls it ”charmingly finicky.” He was born in Houston and grew up in the historic Oak Cliff section of Dallas. After spending almost 20 years living in and around New York City, he now lives in Austin with his wife and two children.

    Bill Aleshire: Project Connect & Your Taxes

    About the program:

    We will discuss he lawsuit filed to stop the 21% Project Connect property tax increase from 2020 filed by Dity Martin's, Gonzalo Barrientos, Ora Houston, Margaret Gomez, and Susana Almanza.

    About the speaker:

    A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Bill Aleshire received his license to practice law in 2001. Prior to his law practice, Mr. Aleshire worked in staff positions in the Texas House of Representatives (members of the so-called “Dirty Thirty”) and the Texas Senate in the early 1970s.

    Mr. Aleshire worked on Sissy Farenthold’s campaigns for Governor in 1972 and 1974. He served as Administrative Assistant to the house sponsor of the Texas Open Records Act, now the Texas Public Information Act. Mr. Aleshire also worked several years under State Comptroller Bob Bullock, last holding the position as Associate Deputy State Comptroller, reporting to the Chief Deputy Comptroller.

    Elected Travis County Tax Collector, Mr. Aleshire served in that position from 1980-1985. He won election for Travis County Judge and served in that position from 1987-1998. In September 2003,

    Jennifer Riggs and Mr. Aleshire left the firm of Hill, Gilstrap, Riggs, Adams & Graham, L.L.P. and opened Riggs & Aleshire, P.C. In January 2015, Mr. Aleshire opened his solo firm, AleshireLAWPC, where he enjoys a law practice focused on government accountability and public policy matters.

    Mr. Aleshire is the author of “HILLARY” EMAILS AND THE UNENFORCEABLE TEXAS PUBLIC INFORMATION ACT, 17 Tex. Tech. Admin. L.J. 175 (2016) and THE TEXAS ATTORNEY GENERAL: ATTORNEY OR GENERAL?, 20 Rev. Litig. 187 (2000).
